If it is not a MS or Cisco product they do not know how to support and a lot of time are unwilling to learn how to support it. Does working locally mess this up?įunny you mention corporate IT. If Captivate can not find the support file to update it I have to manually navigate to the file to reupdate. I have to alter these support files often. These support files are in folders outside of the folder that the Capativate project is in. Do you use a mirror copy of the file structure on the server and your local machine? Example I have a module Right now that has video, flash animations, and images added to it. If you have a lot of files that are linked to a Captivate Project and you work locally but then store on the external server. The LAN's I am talking about thou are LAN's dedicated to a department not a LAN that a whole corporation would be using which is what I work on now. Kind of like deciding between a RAID 0 config or a RAID 5. So it was a trade off between speed or reliability. Our productivity has dramatically decreased since we upgraded due to the slowness of the program. We had some problems but found that coping every file over locally was causing a slow down in production. My team just updated to Captivate 2019 and I am wishing we hadn’t. We had 35 designers working with Photoshop shop files stored on a LAN server. I worked for a large Ad firm for 5 years. I worked off of a LAN and when I made my original post I noticed a drop in performance when I upgraded from 5.5 to 6. I know networks are slower than Harddrives but I have been working with multimedia app's off of a LAN for so long it has become the norm for me.
